A lot of universities give a base salary of 2,200,000 won for 12 hours of work plus a living allowance (I'm a little less at my university). On-campus hagwons often offer overtime to teachers at 30~35,000 an hour. Tack on a little extra pay for website stuff and textbook stuff etc., and it's not all that difficult. Factor in teaching during the semester breaks and you can bring your monthly average even higher. |

| Teaching test prep (SAT/SSAT/TOEFL/SAT II/PHYSICS/CHEMISTRY) will net you at least 3 mil at hagwons in Seoul. With some experience, you can expect to easily make over 5 mil working 40 hours a week. Experienced test prep instructors (2-3 years experience) usually rake in 6-8 mil won per month. |

Right now I am working 41 hours a week and making 3.9 million, give or take.
Knackered, but got to save some money. |
