Apparently, my director has decided that our school operates in its own time zone. The school has a problem with being organized enough to pick the kids up early enough to get them to the hogwan in time for class. So, rather than having the bus pick them up earlier, the new school policy is to set all the clocks back ten minutes.
I guess this is a cheap attempt to get around the fact that my contract says I don't work past 10 pm. It's only ten minutes, so it's not like I'm going to kick up a fuss (especially since I'm leaving soon). I just find it an absolutely bizarre way to address the problem. |

It is actually illegal for the kids to be there after 10pm. |

The school doesn't really care about that rule. My co-worker teaches until 11 pm. And those are middle-school classes. I think it's unacceptable for a 14 year old to be at a hogwan until 11 pm three times a week.
Just another reason why I'm leaving. 29 work days to go. |

It's hardly a "rule" since it is in fact a law. It's clearly spelled out and can be found readily on the internet. However, I find few laws of consequence in Korea. |

Snuf is correct. No later than 10.00pm and no more than 12 to a class. Ipshis and study rooms are not governed by such recstrictions, they can remain open until 1.00am. As has already been stated, laws are only there as an inconvenience, not to be implemented and followed. |
