Okay, here's the situation. Since I'm not permitted to institute a "no personal toys in class" rule at my hogwan (I really hate my job), let's just say there was a tragic, tragic accident involving my notebook lcd screen and a squirt toy. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad There's now a huge, hideous bright blotch on the bottom of my lovely 15" screen. It seems to be shrinking a little, but that might be wishful thinking.

Give it to me straight - is there any chance the water is going to dry out, or is my baby fried forever? Is getting it repaired going to mean that I'll need to get the whole screen replaced?

Did you kill the offender. I think I would have at least injured any brat who did that to my laptop.

It happened while I was outside the classroom, so I have no solid proof of who might have done it. Although the thought of conducting a heavy duty interrogation did cross my mind. Twisted Evil

Anyway, the good news is that the ugly blotch is definitely shrinking, so I'm hoping it'll eventually all disappear.

Kind of a related question...

I've got smudges on my laptop LCD, what's the best way to clean them?

I've seen some special cloths for cleaning LCDs...a two pack...one wet (not really wet, but damp with some chemical) and the other dry.

I guess they could be bought at the computer shop.

Or, Room Temperature Water or Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol

The LCD Panel should be cleaned using only a soft cotton cloth and a minimum of cleaning solution. Using a paper towel, tissue, or other paper type product may cause scratches to the LCD. After applying an acceptable cleaning solution to a cotton cloth, gently & carefully with minimum pressure wipe the LCD. It is important to only wipe in one direction, either vertically or horizontally. Never wipe the LCD panel in a circular motion. You should never spray any cleaning solution directly on the LCD panel itself.

Note: Using any types of paper products including paper towels is not recommended

This is from the e-machines website.

One thing I wouldn't be doing right now is using the screen. Give it a couple of days to dry out. If the blotch is still there, take it to a service centre where you should get it replaced. Hopefully you bought it in Korea and it is still under warranty.
