the AM class of students was really pushing Andong- a place I've always intended to visit, but never got around to. They said Gyeong ju is more like a park, and Andong is more like a trip back in time. ( Okay- it's what they tried to say, anyway)

Andong is nice I hear. I'd go during the mask festival in August or September.

Summer vacation is coming up. Just wonder what you all are planning to do, inside Korea that is.

My suggestions

Jeju (been twice and it is a nice island)

Heainsa temple near Daegu ( the best and most scenic major one in the country - a little hard to get to by bus but worth it, also has the Tripitaka).

West Coast islands

Any number of mountains

Just a few suggestions.

Did a weekend trip rafting last weekend. Near a place call ö (sin cheol won) There are a ton of outfits near there. However if you are without a car taxi's would be rather expensive to get where you want to go. If you do have a car or rent one for the weekend. There are tons of places to stay outside of the town in penshuns. Anyway a great weekend and the river for rafting is one of the most beautiful in Korea. (in my opinion) I think you can book daytrips from Seoul through most travel agencies. Happy Travels

Also, The worst place I have ever been. Chebudo. What a hell hole. Nothing really scenic to see. Don't wast your time. You can get good seafood in Seoul. No need to venture all that way.
