The pay is low and you are about 20 minutes out from the city by transport. The accommodation is also in the sticks. So unless you have your own transport then you are somewhat stuck with little to do.
Tourism students are the low ability students in Korea, meaning they could only just make it into uni. The Korean goverment grades students and tells them what their major will be!
Everything else is about standard for working at a university.
I had a friend working there and I visited the place a couple of times. |

No I'm in Malaysia at the moment. Somewhat homesick (Korea) but. Set up a shack near a beach in Oz, then thought I had a a business opportunity here but as usual they just wanted to screw ideas from me.
Did you get sick of UAI? Things seem to be heating up with Iran and Saudi at present not to mention other places. |

I worked for Cheju Tourism College for a year in 2001 and thoroughly enjoyed it. You have fantastic views of the sea nearby, the clean air is great and the CTC people are very nice. You can even go snorkeling after work. I even got some opportunites you might not get elsewhere, like doing a radio English program and getting to be the personal English teacher of the college owner, who was a great lady. Professor Lee Yong Min was always there to help if any problems occurred and I consider him a great friend to this day. If my wife's father hadn't gotten sick and led us back to Seoul, I'd probably still be there. Also, there's summer work at the Tamna Education Center in Halla Mountain and that was a blast. And don't miss the MT's, CTC gives a great MT and the people really involve the foreign teachers. The pay is low, but you can't have everything. |

We liked living there but hated working for the locals. They make a bad hogwan owner look like a saint. Came back here about a year ago now. Are you still worried the world is going to go in the shitter? Or have you realized thats its just going to keep trudging along mostly. Change is slow my friend.

p.s. the U.S. economy is going to boom for the next 4-5 years. Japan is recovering too. Big upswing coming. |

What timing.
The day Anda returns there's a front-page photo in the paper of Kim Dae-jung, Bill Richardson, and Maurice Strong acting all chummy. |
