Since I've been here I can't stop bowing every time somebody bows to me!!!
And that's also the same for the "hellos" that get sent in my direction from kids and adults. It's just a habit for me to reply back to them.
Have I been here too long!! |

Posting regularly to the message board of an anonymous online group. That's something I thought I'd never do.
BTW, livinginkorea, incessant bowing is a sign that you haven't been here long enough! It took me over a year to give up the automatic habit and now I'm able to follow the custom of avoiding the practice when making eye contact with children.
and, osangirl, don't you mean drinking 1.25 litre size bottles? |

for me it's like every time somebody does it, it's just a reaction for me. I haven't been here that long to be honest so it hasn't worn off me yet!! |

I add a touch of hot water to my cup every time so that my water is slightly warm. Or I'll just drink it hot.
I also make packing tape handles for anything heavy or awkward I have to carry.... |

Habits..lets see..
Daily trip to the Public Bath (missing that right now!)
Eating a lot more fish.
Drinking more Tea.
Hiking.
Jangi.
Doing grocery shopping on a daily basis instead of one big load once per week. (That is almost my favorite part of the day in Korea, me and my wife going to the open air market near our place and getting our fruits and veggies, shooting the shit with the old harabogi that sells bananas) |

I spend much more time on the internet than before, and find it very useful...
I view most koreans with immediate suspicion..don't trust their smile at all
Take what Korean women say with a large pinch of salt, instinctively |

i do the whole give-and-receive-something-with-both-hands thing. it's so unconscious for me to hold my hand out to someone with my other hand lamely clutching my forearm, like my hand is broken or something! every time i do it with my western friends i feel a bit silly and they sort of look at me like, 'what?! i'm not korean!'
but i can't help it. i'll probably do it back home, too. it's pretty ingrained at this point. i even do it when i'm at the bar, totally obliterated. |

No, because of my experiences everywhere. Its a hard world, and people are out to drain you, test you, suck you dry, or tear you down. But nobody's going to beat ol' rapier. |
