from the title thread ... what about "me"

I was taught to never say "got" and I avoid "me" at all costs as well ...

'me' is the object pronoun used for the singular first person. you know...subject versus object pronouns. 'he' vs. 'him'. 'we' vs. 'us'. you would never say, 'he is coming over to see I.' you would say, 'he's coming over to see me.' if you never used 'me' you'd have to say stuff like, 'he's coming over to see <insert your own name here>.' you'd be referring to yourself in the third person and we all know that the only people who do that are the slighty 'off' people and professional sports players.

'me' is perfectly acceptable when used as an object pronoun. in fact, it's the only pronoun you should use in that instance. none of this 'it happened to I' stuff.

I really can't belive that people still take ...

my posts seriously.

Here we go ...

No, I would say "he is coming over to visit ..."

Why would anyone come over just to look at another person, visit implies social interation thus a visit, a chat, a talk, whatever ... I do not have to say "me" at all.

"See me" ... "See me" who would want to ...

Bah ... "It happen to I" ... It happened, period.

That's the second time this week I've seen a song quote from The Monks on this place. Isn't that a sign of the apocalpyse?

As for the grammar issue, I think it's a question of where you're using "me". There's a tendency to misuse it. (ie My brother and me went to the park.) It definitely should not be used as a subject pronoun, but you have to use it as an object pronoun.

At least in my class. Very Happy

LMAO

OK, that would be the only exception ... BUT ...

I would say: "Who do you think you are talking to ..."

Quote:
Travis Bickle: You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who do you think you're talking to? Oh yeah? Huh? Ok.

I am a lot better educated then Travis Bickle ... and he did correct himself in the end.

It would be difficult to avoid using a legitimate object pronoun in all cases. And even if you could, what would be the point? Tell me. Give me an explanation. Write me a note. Wink

Of course, "He is faster than me" is obviously pretty poor.

Well, to tell the truth, I don't really care about the grammar either. I just thought the Monks quote was cool, but I thought I should say something relevant to the thread topic occasionally.

Because: they are there, and now not.

Challenge.

Wait until I start verbing words ...
