I used to have this girlfriend when I lived in London. I'm Australian, she was English... Something about the way English girls moan... Anyhow... on with the story or I'll get all riled up and it's only 9:13. Either way.

We'd be fine, walking around. Chatting away quite merrily. Get on the tube though. I'd be talking and she'd just go quiet. Just like that. Look like she was going to top herself.

Anyhow... Just wanted to think of her this morning. That helped.

People complain about how gloomy everyone looks in Korea walking around the streets. I propose everyone smile for a whole day and see what happens. What kind of reactions do you get? Please tell us here if anything different happens.

This subject used to remind me of a song when I lived in Korea, reading this thread reminded me...

Quote:

When youre weary,
feeling small
When tears are in your eyes,
I'll dry them all....
Im on your side,
Oh, when times get rough
And friends just cant be found
When youre down and out,
When youre on the street
When evening falls so hard

I always used to be a positive, happy, smiley person, until I realised it is deadly to be so. if you walk around smiling and approachable, every last korean who wants free English practise will approach you, as well as any freaks or bums wanting cash or conversation.
Much better to present a harder, slightly aggressive demeanour.

I hated when I smiled at some and they didn't smile back, in fact they gave dirty looks, like "what are you looking at?" Other times, smiles brings a smile back, and we both felt good. I loved that!
