I'm wondering if I should be concerned about this. Is this a common problem? What can I do to end it. Obviously, someone has been able to use my email address to send all kinds of unsolicited junk mail. I don't know if this means that I could somehow be held accountable for the results, but it does bother me.

Anyone have an easy solution?

Change my email address? Rolling Eyes

Oh well.

They are most likely messages that contain a virus or a link to something that looks genuine, but is a way to hack your account or to a link to infect you with a virus ..... delete them, don't open them

definitely don't open the attachments. Just delete them. We're all getting these now, and they've sucked in a few of my computer-savvy friends.

More often they're *products* of viruses, not viruses themselves. But it's wise not to open them anyway.

Okay, they're most often the PRODUCT of virii

However, I receive between 24-32 spam/product/virus e-mails a day and nearly 60% contain a virus, at least in my case. And in the last 4 weeks the most common virus I receive is the Netsky virus

I think you are both right. The products of virii are what is often recieved, but being as they are designed to propogate, the virus is also included.

Just delete them. Said for the tenth time...Laughing

I am still getting 10+ a day, mostly from european hosts

When viruses infect a computer and exploit the contacts or address books they send out more viruses spoofing (pretending to be coming from the addresses it finds) to new victims. Sometimes the hosts remove the infected files sometimes they don't. So use common sense and don't open them. When you get enough of them you start noticing a pattern in the size of the attachments, 32kb, 41kb or whatever size the virus of the month/week happens to be.
