|
|
I visited the Immigration office a little while back...I remember looking for the visa extension forms but I couldn't find any under that particular name. Is there an official name for the form....something like, "extension of the period of stay" or do we have to fill out one of those reentry forms. Anybody know the official name of the visa extension form??? Thanks. |

There is no specifc form as far as I know regarding visa extension. I did it recently and had to fill out a standard form and simply stated that it was an extension.
You also need a few other documents from your emplyoer and a copy of your new extension contract.
It can be an easy or hard process depending on how much of an A hole the immigration official decides to be. The immigration chap I was dealing with was a complete and utter ba5tard and it was not an easy process for me.
Just make sure you have all the appropriate documents that you need from your employer plus you passport and IRC. Good luck, I had a nightmare extending but it can be easy if you get the right official. |

Maybe you know this, but I didn't for a year and a half... and neither did my hagwon.
If you are in Seoul and want to extend your sojourn or get a re-entry, you can go to the immigration office near Gyongbok Palace. I think that's all you can do there, but I know you can do those things(I went today). So,

Yeah I had a nightmare. It involved three trips to the immigration office when it was damn busy, dealing with the idiot officer who had a bit of an attitude problem and was deeply suspicious. It wasted about a day of my life when you count in waiting, subways, talking to the jerk. And after all that he rings my boss up freaking out at her and giving her a hard time and that I had all the wrong information. A colleauge of mine extended as well recently and she had no problems at all, it was a breeze.
I actually quite like Korea generally, ok it is a bit weird and some of the attitudes are very strange but I've been here just over two years now and fully intend to stay for a few more. |
