due to a hysterical flame war my thread was killed earlier on...

in my opinion (which is what these message boards are all about?)

the little school on the hill, aka "knowldge aid" and specifically Grace Park who's email is something like "pooh" is still a lying head teacher...her only goal in life is to make her teachers' lives miserable... i worked at the little school on the hill and submitted it to the canadian embassy for inclusion on their blacklist...

i just hope that people don't apply to this school

in her job ad grace discusses attending meetings three times a week, those meetings have been, are and will be conducted almost exclusively in korean... she can't speak english...although this doesn't stop her from correcting yours...

before the self appointed english grammar police hound and harass me this posting is conversational and informal in nature...

thanks for your time

Well if it was killed, don't you think it was killed for a reason and that maybe you're bypassing the moderators' discretion ?

Yes, there are lots of negative opinions about this school and I have no doubts that the school should likely be avoided.

I'm also curious. For having such a negative view and going so far out of the way to "blacklist" this school, why did you place the job experience on your resume ? It seems to me you should be less willing to place it on the list, despite being accurate in your work experience history.

This is not a blacklist. (But we do need a blacklist of schools.)

It's not realy fair to post a warning and expect the mods to just leave it there.

Would it be fair to post a 'I worked there contact me for my story' message??

Whaddyathink?

As far as the cv goes - well, the op still worked there, probably did a decent job and deserves credit for it.

Bad schools often employ good teachers. If only by accident.

Same goes the other way, too. Keep in mind that there are 2 sides to every story and we are assuming that the crumb of information that the OP has provided about the director and school, is completely unbiased and unfiltered.
If the OP is able to provide contact information of the person on the opposite viewpoint, being the director, plus any neutral 3rd parties that may be witness to all of this, so interested parties can verify and weigh the facts before applying, then we would have something worthwhile to post and discuss.

But all we have right now is some random guy saying random stuff about a random school.

i just want to warn people about this school...

of course they are welcome to defend themselves but it would be nice to have some solidarity on our side...

of course i am biased... i am giving my opinion

teaching at best is very subjective...

well, i gotta go make some euros...

i am sincerely interested in a discussion... i think flaming (when the OTHER party is anonymous) is just.... just...

And I think someone that despises an institute so much, that goes out of the way to cause them harm, that takes retribution against them, that publically denounces them, and yet they must be GOOD enough to be put on a resume, so good ONLY when it benefits themselves despite such negativity is just ... just ...

The op made some precise and clear points - about meetings to be specific.

I would raise these with the director and other teachers at the school, if I were looking to work there.

Cleary, the OP had a bad time and some of it may not be the school's fault.

I have had a bad time too and will not come back, but it's not the school's fault.

If they were a great employer, I might stay despite my personal circumstances - but they are not great. No worse than I expected, but not great.

I won't be sticking it to them when I've gone, and I'll still put them on my cv - even though I won't ask them for a reference, and I'm not especially proud to have worked there, I am proud of the work I've done and the obvious progress my students have made.

All a blacklist could ever be is a place for people to log their personal experience of a place. But this is not a blacklist. That is clearly stated somewhere, so the OP's post is out of order and will/should probably get deleted.

Solidarity?

Our side?

Since when were all English teachers in Korea on one side? This is not a them vs. us issue (which is probably at the root of your troubles with the school). It's you vs. the school. Period.

I tried to salvage the thread but the only post that wasn't riddled with flamebait or referencing flamebait was the original post... let's not go down that path again.

koldijk - you are free to post here about your experience with The Little House on the Hill / Knowledgeaid.

Reprising waterbaby's post, there's nothing wrong with posting warnings about schools. This forum, and the "Job Information Journal" is full of them. Just be civil.

I totally agree. There are equally, if not more, dodgy teachers over here, than schools and recruiters. Don't think that just because we share the same occupation, speak the same language, and have some similar experiences here, that means that we should blindly line up and rally support.

I don't remember signing up to any union. And if there was, I would laugh at it, because, unless I knew them well, I'd believe the average teacher over here as much, if not less, than I'd believe a school or a recruiter. Especially on the friggin internet of all places.
