Well here I am less than a month away from finishing a very trying year. I find out I actually get to go home a week early...yay Question

I ask if they have booked my ticket out....they tell me that the operators speak very good English and I should handle it myself Confused I contact Korea Air with my open ticket and find out they are booked up....no seats available Sad I am on the waiting list but that does not do me a whole hell of a lot of good. There are only 3 flights leaving towards the end of July....23, 24 and 30 all of which are booked.

What are the rules of getting home? They changed my leaving date but did not tell me....they did not reserve my flight but left it up to me Mad If I cant get a flight what they hell am I supposed to do? In the contract it says that they will provide return airfare....yet I somehow feel they are passing the buck....ducking their responsabilities. I have not had this problem before with other contracts. On the flip side I do not want to be stuck in Seoul for two weeks waiting for a seat to open up Exclamation

Let me sum my feelings up with one word........aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Exclamation

All i can say Grotto is watch your back.

They told you to go home a week early but didn't book the ticket....that sounds like they are trying to get out of paying severance(with the way you've been discribing your workplace).

I actually would prefer to book my own ticket as I'm in control but I'd be careful.

What's up with the flights being so booked up at the end of July already? I was considering a trip home then too but looks like I can't.

I hope you aren't serious.
When all Koreans take their holidays at once, that is what will happen.
If you want to travel during this time without being on a waiting list you needed to have booked by the start of May.

If you arent tied in to just one airline, a good travel agent should be able to get you onto several promising waitlists. What happens is a lot of Koreans double or triple-book & wait for the best last-minute prices, which means spaces that appear reserved now come free. Try Top -- they've always come through for me.

Others heading to North America during high season have reported booking via Hawaii can work with minimal extra expense & maybe a pleasant layover.
