One night I kept getting what I thought was a prank call, or maybe a nut or a drunk, this Korean guy kept babbling on real fast on the phone- I couldn't catch what he was saying and I thought he was trying to sell me something or join his church or whatever, so I kept hanging up on him.
He kept calling back, speaking faster and getting more irate. At this point I was getting pretty damned irate myself- the guy had called me three times in 10 minutes! I told him I was a foreigner and didn't speak Korean and hung up on him again.
5 minutes later another guy called up and said in English "Please move your car, it's blocking my friend's car and he is very late."
I asked how he got this number- he said his friend got my number from the dashboard of my car.
"But I don't own a car."

Yup I have had my motorcycle boxed in by inconsiderate drivers on several occasions...ticks me off.
My remedy is to rock the car out into the middle of the road   When you are as big as I am it isnt too difficult to get one of these rice burners bouncing 
My favorite memory is when the driver of one of the cars came out of where ever he had been just as I had finished....he was so apologetic I laughed....meanwhile his car is in the middle of the road and cars are honking and people are yelling..it was great 
Oh yeah being a provincial class powerlifter in my younger years doesnt hurt either |

the pedestrians in those countries actually open their eyes when they walk, korean drivers know that korean people are dumb when they walk so they must be very careful.. |

| I think traffic congestion leads to stress. Driving in NYC is no picnic; Seoul is actually much better, a certain tenuous politeness reigns, imho. US drivers seem more polite in smaller cities, but the interstates are something else entirely--an 80mph minimum free for all. |

City drivers suck. Even small town drivers seem to be keenly ignorant of walk lights.
Korean drivers respect one thing- their inability to legally run you down when you walk out in front of them.
VanIslander, don't you live in the absolute sticks of Korea? It may be different there.
On the same note I don't find drivers in Canada to be particularly polite, just the pedestrian laws are more strict. |
