chain smoking ajoshis. korean only menus. popups up the wazoo.
gotta get out..

I already have CPU & motherboard, DDR RAM and CDRW...

- I want to buy a hard drive (60 gig or so)
- Monitor (LCD 15 inch or so)
- DVD (possibly combo DVDRW, CDRW to replace my current CDRW)
- Case (basic)
- Assembly of components

What sort of money will this cost me.
I figure some people have bought monitors, hard drives and should have a good idea of prices.

Any help really appreciated

http://www.danawa.co.kr

I would do the work for you, but only you really know what you want and how much you want to spend.

The site is very user-friendly.

Ball-park figures:
Monitor: 450,000
HDD: 60,000
DVD-RW/CD-RW: 140,000
Case 40,000
Assembly of components?!?!

Well, I could answer, but honestly, I don't even know what all the buttons on my computer do. Very Happy

But if it helps, I think you should get one of those custom built cases with all the pretty flashing lights. Because they look cool and that's all that counts in my knowledge of the computer world.

Demo is indeed in the ballpark, but his prices are a bit on the high side, I think:

Monitor: 350,000w for a 15 inch LCD - no name brand monitor, but with a Samsung LCD screen
HD: 60,000w - pay a little more and get a much larger drive
DVD+/-RW - 120,000w.. and that's still more than in the US. 99US there.
Case & power: 25,000w for a pretty nifty case with audio and USB jacks in the front, and a side fan.
Assembly: who knows. You could try to do it yourself...

Cheapest Samsung on Danawa: TGIC-LC1500P = 397,000. We meet in the middle, Lemon Wink

I said 140,000 for the DVD/RW because that is the price of the Sony DRU530 8x....A friend bought one recently and I have the DRU510A...I think they are really good.

Most cheaper models are only 4x write for a DVD. About 15 minutes...not long, but spend a tiny bit more and get a DVD in 8 minutes. Cool.

I was high on the case, but one may as well get a nice one...it is almost like furniture...you have to look at it all the time. I hate all of those lights...just a distraction.

Assembly isn't too hard. I helped a friend recently and I must have been half-witted that day because I think he had a better handle on the situation than I did, and he was a novice!

If you do need help, PM me.

Yeah.. just looked on OMI and the DVD-RW drives continue to fall in price. 94,000w from Shinsaegae for a 4x drive. Good stuff. Mine's a 4x and that's fine for me.

Unless you're taking your monitor home with you , you should consider about 35,000 for a used 15 or 17" monitor. Not perfect but better than leaving 3 to 4 hundred thousand behind. Yongsan to the far left if you are standind at the bottom of the outdoor market looking at the building.
