Anyone play this game and wanna do a little multiplayer? If so, lemme know and we can set up a game. I've got a friend in America that plays too, so it might be possible we could get a two on two showdown.

Also, just for kicks. What's your favorite civilization to use and why?

When I used to play all the time, I played "random" civilization so that I got pretty good with all of them. But for some reason, I got to be better with civs that have archer unique units. The Britons, Mongols, and Chinese (never cared for the Mayans though). I actually play the Asian civs the most, since I know their history the best. So don't be surprised to see 100 turtle ships comin' your way.

Britons. Those archers hit from miles away.

A colleague passed me "Rise of Nations" on CD last week. I'm not much of a gamer, but that game is like crack cocaine.

If you read me posting in the next month about not being around the board much because I'm "packing", because I'm "leaving the country", well, you now know the truth.

I've got Rise of Nations too, but I've only played it once about a year ago. I gotta get up to speed on that game, but first I need to regain my dominance at AOEII

Rise of nations (RON) is fun so is Civilization 3 and Call To Power 2.
What is the best version of Age of Empires? I want to buy it. Thanx.
I love conquering the world on Saturday mornings while watching The Postman, Conan or Excalibur.

I like the Persian elephants but they turn too easily by monks. I think the Byzantines are the best on balance. I like the British long bowmen but I like bombard towers too.

Here's something I've never been able to figure out. I create my own scenarios with plenty of oceans but the computer player never seems to recognize that there's water and builds a navy. Anyone enounter this?

I'm not much into online games, but if anyone is looking for one person for Far Cry / Call of Duty / UT2004 I'm willing to give it a try. (Unfotunately I'm not a huge fan of RTS...)

I've never really screwed with the scenario editor... but have you tried giving the computer a dock to start out? And maybe a ship just to get the ball rolling?

I'll have a round with you...but on the weekend...that's when I have time.

I will PM you on Friday and we can try a co-op match or something.

AOE....ahhh, the memories. A few of us at my old uni. used to go down to the local PC Bang to battle each other....dang fun.

I haven't played AOE in nearing a year...I play Age of MYTHOLOGY now.... a lot better, in my opinion. Though, I wish it would incorporate some of the AOE dealies.

I used to play this a couple of years ago and regularly castled in less than 18 minutes

My best castle time was around 14 minutes... I got bored with the game and moved on.

I hit feudal around 3 minutes, castle around 10-11, and imperial around 18-20.

By 20 minutes when people are thinking about attacking, I've usually got around 5 or 6 castles for defense till I build my army.

That's the great thing about Age of Mythology, The Titans....with the advancing of age, you get certain gifts from the god you follow, which, can easily throw a monkey wrench into a game plan such as that. You've got to be more diverse in AoM, I think.
