Crying or Very sad I got home from the bar last night and realized my precious hand phone was gone. GONE I SAY!! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I left it in a cab. I tried calling it about 30 times and no one answered. It is in my boss' name. What do I do? Is there anyway to get another one on my own? I remember we got the phone free on a two year contract. Any help would be muchos appreciato. I'm going to go back to eating chocolate in bed to console myself.

Yes you can get one on your own. You can get either a card phone- though you pay dearly for the lackof commitment, or you can sign a contract with one of the phone companies. LG seems to be more foreigner friendly though their service is not quite as good.

KTF will give phones to foreigners.
There are conditions and take a Korean but check it out.

Peppermint, you may want to list the specific neighborhoods and/or locations of outlets that will do phones for foreigners. Because I honestly could never find one place that would do a phone for me when I was there-always had to get one through my job.

Do you really expect me to do an exhaustive listing for all Korea? Get serious. You must have been gone for a while, cause things have loosened up a lot in the last couple of years.

I left my phone in a taxi once too. I called, he answers and brought the phone back. I was very relieved. Paid fare for the phone's ride back. That was all, he was pretty nice about the whole issue.

I believe the OP was asking how to replace the phone with the OP's boss knowing. The phone is in the boss' name and has to be replaced. You need to tell your boss ASAP.

Yeah, what KD said.

Also, hoping that your battery isn't dead by now, get your director to send a text message to your phone in Korean, asking who ever finds it, to call him on his cell #. I've lost my phone twice in the past year and was able to have it returned by doing this.

Fingers crossed.

If you want to get one on your own and for cheap, try going to the nearest US base and stroll down the streets outside of it. There are many local businesses that cater to GI's and usually there are shops that sell used and new cellphones. Many GI's buy them there and sell them back when their tour is up.

They'll be 'pay as you go', so you'd have to go to a KTF and add more time on the phone.

Or if you have a good Korean friend, they can go to KTF or KT and buy a cellphone and monthly plan for you, in their name. You can finance the phone into your monthly bills over 12 or 24 months.

I got a good phone in my own name with SK Telecom. Foreigners can get phones with them and get bills sent to your house (not pay as you go), but you have to pay a 200,000W deposit, which you get back when you cancel the service.

I with you here, but I have SK take the bill right out of my bank account and then they e-mail me the statement. Couldn't be any easier.

OH MY GOD Shocked just buy another phone and get ur boss to connect it to the same number/contract. really, this is so simple. The company doesnt care what phone it is as long as u keep using their service. if ur paying for the phone over 2 years u will have to keep paying; just buy a cheaper phone outright and connect to the same number
