...on my wife's desktop. We, as I've mentioned before, are running WindowsXP Pro. On my desktop, the date is displayed accurately, but for her, well, we're stuck in the future. When I go to adjust the time in the control panel or by double clicking the time in the bottom right, the date is shown accurately as 2004. When I manipulate the year up or down, the date changes by a corresponding number. Moving the year up to 2005 makes her year 4338. The problem is evident when I float the cursor over the time in the bottom right of the screen and then the date pops up.

I only noticed the problem at all because, as was recommended to me in another thread, to download a trial version of TuneUp Utilities (which I now have a key for - thanks Jaz). I downloaded the trial, which is good for thirty days. The next day I was on my wife's desktop and went to run the program again and found that my trial time had expired by 2333 years. On a side note, the program graciously extended the trial period by three days 'cuz I'd rarely used the program Smile.

I've been into the bios but everything seems to be okay.

To be honest, it seems more like a nuisance than anything else, not a big deal as far as I can see. Am I wrong? Anyone have any ideas what to do?

It's showing the Bhuddist year, or the year Tangun the Magic Carrot created Korea or something. Her account is set to "Korean". In "control panel" go to "region and language settings" and futz around with the settings there.

2004 =

Buddhist year 2548
Jewish year 5765
Muslim year 1424
Korean year 4337 (October 3 : National Foundation Day marks the traditional founding in 2333 B.C. of Korea by Tangun)

Either your CPU has been infected with the hypernationalist virus, or the project manager for Korean Windows was a Kornazi.

Haha.

FWIW, Lemon's advice was spot on. All is well in the year 2004 now.

Yeah, but now you have a pissed-off magic carrot with a God complex after you.

He holds grudges, you know. Your sky opening day could come at any time.

He's already started. I figured I was getting punished for something. That explains this thread Smile.
