|
|
I've just started to study Korea academically, and am looking for some good introductory Korean linguistics and general interest books. I've read The Koreans by Michael Breen and Korea's Place in the Sun and North Korea: Another Country by Bruce Cummings, and liked those. Could those of you who have read the following books give me your feedback?
1) Korea Unmasked (as an interesting coffee table book and for a general introduction)- saw it on seoulselection.com for $8.
2) Roadmap to Korean.
3) The Korean Language. (How does this compare with the above book?)
4) The Sounds of Korean. (I'm studying Korean now and am very interested in getting the pronunciation down very well- I've found Korean harder to pronounce than both Japanese and Chinese).
What do you Korea experts think about these books? Also, can you recommend a basic-intermediate Korean reader? |

Many of the teachers at my school read this book and enjoyed it. Buy it!
