Just recently got to Korea. Im working in Kwangju. I have been told that there is a red light distict in Kwangju very similar to those found in Amsterdam. I know Korea at times is a conservative culture so I dont imagine it being so blatant. I know sex is for sale everywhere but there seems to be the attitude that your not supposed to talk about it openly. Does the red light district exist in Kwangju and where is it? Just curious trying to understand the culture Ive been droopped into. Yes I am a single male but this is just about curiosity, I cant honestly see paying for sex.

Oh, and I am in Daegu,

I am a single male too...I have no interest in actually paying for sex either but hey! if someone could tell me where the red light district and some numbers to call, and some places to go, and streets to walk down and some hotels that cater to this....this is JUST curiosity...I would NEVER think of going to any of these places or calling the numbers.

.....hmmmm, perhaps this is why there seems to be the attitude that your not supposed to talk about it openly....because it becomes flame time at the OK corral Laughing

But I just COULDN'T resist

Oh well not to sure if this is thew place but it sure seemed like it when we were there on Saturday night and I don't think those girls were flagging down their friends in all those cars driving by.

We went out in search of a gay bar in Kwangju. We found out where it was on a website where were the details "near kwangju bank tower second floor" So we got dropped off at the lotte walked to the bank tower and realized that there was no way we could find this bar. As we wondered around we came to realize we were in a pretty seedy part of town. There were attractive hookers and then there was the ajumma hookers Shocked . Eventually we found the place we were looking for and had a great time so the moral and the point of all my rambling is this is where the 'red light district" is

While we are on the topic of finding things, does anyone know where there is a Thai restaurant in the Gangnam area, not that I could ever eat Thai food, I'm just curious.

I'm looking for a suicide machine, something kinda Kervorkian. Maybe a guillotine, or a garrotte. Anyone know where I can find one? Purely out of interest, of course.

In case you're wondering "What Kind of Sin You're Up Against" in Gwangju, there are at least 4 red-light Amersterdam style brothel areas here.

I'll let you know the locations so you can stay well clear of them:

They can be found near Lotte, the Park downtown, the Emart on the 29 Northbound bus (about 378 paces left going west) and another whose location I can't describe.

Now, just to be on the safe side, I strongly recommend that if you accidently find yourself in one of these areas, and a girl says "Party! Party!" that you never say:

"I'm looking for Reverse Side-by-Side BBJTC GFE with a little DATY and English on the side."

Why? Because that's On the Other Hand's B*tch, and he doesn't like it when people mess with his hoes.

Also, as an added precaution, I recommend that you not leave your apartment carrying more than 100,000 Won, because you could get mugged.

Here is the best info yuo are gonna get!

굿 if full of room salons, and is very expensive. Especially for Johnny foreigner. Go with Korean friends, and they will negotiate a decent price. For long time you get a couple of crates of beer, and get to sing some songs with the hostesses. After that's done a love hotel conveniently situated acrosss the street will host your "afters."

From station (in Gwangsan Gu) you don't have to walk very far to find a similar set up to above. Expect similar prices.

Lotte Department store has already been dealt with so I won't go into that except to say that it is the cheapest place in Gwangju. I quick 20 minute affair will set you back between 40 - 80k depending on the girl's attitude.

E-mart has already been alluded to and I can't expand on what the above poster said.

Finally, plays host to a number of very up market room salons. These are ususally attached to the better hotels and are very expensive. Cost will run beyond the million mark no joke! These places are an expensive habit of you are so inclined. I am not of course.

Its not really hard to understand. Sex and money, the oldest profession, and all that....but try, try harder, I'm sure you'll get it eventually.

I'm a single guy coming to Korea and i'm really worried about the red light district.

Can you please tell me where they are so that i can avoid them.
Also how much they are so that i can warn others how much they have to pay.
And which ones have STD's so i can warn my friends about if they choose to go to one. Which i will be angry about.

Wink
