After being here for a while I have heard tales and stories about the paperwork schools give.
Simpy it varies from "huh what paper work" to "Oh my GOD, i have to ...."
Me Mine is quite simple and is done within 20 to 40 minutes.
Academic Diary - What we tought how many students basic notes.
Weekly Schedule - What we plan to do for the week ahead - What pages usually.
Grades - Simple ABC (no D rarely).. Every two weeks.
Most of the paper work is easy but the grades irk me. Every two weeks when it should be montly and I could give a more accurute picture with comments maybe.
I would like to hear some more tales of paperwork.
What do you have to do?
How much time does it cost you?
Are you doing something you consider useless or timewasting or just plane inane?
Do you get recompensed for it.

everyday- i spend at least an hour grading quizzes and writing assignments. we have a real curriculum at our school and i feel as though that's about right. i also write monthly progress reports- these take me about three hours to complete
the one thing i don't dig are the monthy meeting with the korean counselors that we have.....it seems like a waste of time since i write about my students on their progress reports at the end of the month. it just seems like a waste of time. |

since they increased my schedule from 24 classroom hours a week to 31 classroom hours a week I do NO paperwork, no evaluations, no anything.
I am at the hogwan for 37 hours a week and I just go in and teach. Oh yeah we are not allowed to give tests...havent been asked to do evaluations for an entire year.....the couple of times in the year they asked us to actually write something down about the students they changed all the grades by about 25% ohhh you cant give our best student in that class a 70% lets make it a 95% ooohhhh you failed that student lets give him a 70% .... if the marks dont mean a damn thing then they can do it themselves.
Thank god my next job is a public school position....actually be able to make a curriculum, give tests that check for progress and understanding. oh yeah only 22 fifty minute classes a week down from 11 a day. sure more students but I figure to have about 2-3 hours of prep time do get ready for the increase. |
