|
|
When I bought my laptop I had Windows XP home on it. For some forgotten reason, I needed XP professional, so a friend loaned me a cracked copy.
When I try to update my system with the latest critical update, I can't. A box pops up to tell me that my registration code is invalid. I wouldn't mind, but since I've tried, it's been locking up a lot.
Is there anyway to uninstall XP professional, and go back to the ( legal) XP home? Any other suggestions? |

You can format the hard drive drive (wipe it clean) then re-install your home setup. It's a tad complex...well, it's a bit daunting for someone who has never done a format before. It's not difficult, just step by step. If you want to format, post your desire and we will give you the proper instructions.
Try changing the serial number first.
I think this is it:
http://microsoft.crack-cd.com/Microsoft_Windows_XP_Corporate_Key_Changer.html click the link at the top of the page to download the program. Follow the ".nfo" (open with "notepad") or the "readme" file.
And this:
http://windows.crack-cd.com/Windows_XP_Product_Key_Viewer.html Just to see your current serial number.
Someone here posted the link to another serial number changing utility a while ago...I don't have their link, but it was tested and the program worked...my link is tested for the program being there to download, but I didn't try to see if it works correctly.
Such a pain...and with SP2 coming out, another batch of invalid serials will be written into it, making it more difficult for users with a crack copy to update. Of course someone will crack it again, but I prefer the ease of having a legit copy.
EDIT: Scrolling down the page I linked you to gives a lot of different kinds of cracks/programs/serials for different situations. I suggest browsing those programs carefully to see which one best suits your needs.
I guess Service Pack 1 is NOT installed on that machine? So, maybe this is what you want:(from the same page)

I'm sorry for my confusing advice here peppermint....I have never had to do this procedure personally...I did it once for a friend a long time ago, but only once....right after SP1 came out. |

I't s not that confusing, and I'll try the new cracks before I go for the blow out. I've done them before and it really wasn't that big a deal. I've got the manufacturer's system restore CDs, and I'd guess they're idiot proof |

Windows XP Corporate key Changer is the best for cracking XP. It's easy to use with simple instructions.
But you MIGHT have to re-install the copy first since I think XP puts a file or registry change onto your pc after you go to their update site.
You can buy a legit XP English at Yongsan. |
