gotta see the hanja for that....however, the usual hanja for Kim means the metal gold, but when used for names, it's just a name.
So-youn...hmm, could really vary....but I'd hazard a guess for 'white love.'

Awhile ago I chose the name ֿ for myself, without really knowing what it meant. Something to do with a dragon, I suppose.
Anyways, my teacher told me it was a name for a girl, but then I remember looking at the attendance sheets of my hagwan classes one day, and I found out that one of the BOYS in my class had the exact same name, right down to the family name, as me. So, if something better in the way of a name came along, I'd be happy to take it. |

"Flippin' Koreans" because you don't understand?
Anyways, kids usually call 'em as they see 'em. Brutally honest... |

My Korean name is ̹. My students wanted to name me but I wouldn't let them after I found out that the last teacher was !!! (still makes me laugh though!) I have some Korean friends with pretty bad names. has to be the worst of my friends, nest would be ȣ, and who could forget my former travel agent . poor guy, surprisingly young for a name like that. I have two students name μ. I usually dont' encourage my students to take English names... even if they go abroad. But for a few... I think it is just best. |

it's amazing how people don't get sarcasm.
"babo" means fool.
"jungshin byungja" means "mental patient".
but thanks so much for helping me adapt to korea dude. you rule. the culture shock is often too much to take... *sniff* |

post edited to avoid looking like someone who randomly runs off at the mouth when someone says "HI". you edit, i edit.
in a perfect world you would have detected my wry wit and deadpan delivery... thus making it a beautiful example of sarcasm. the internet fails us again.

I got this in Darwin in '97 after partying hard in a bus with a tribe of Korean English students. They told me it meant brave tiger. |
