Anyone know the correct procedure to contact someone who stopped going to the hagwon I teach at? The lady is in her mid-30's. She contacted the school by phone to quit and then talked to me to tell me she wasn't coming anymore. She then left her number and wished to hear from me soon.
I wouldn't mind contacting her. I'm wondering if I should do it really soon or wait a week or two. Is there any Korean implied guidelines? |

There's not much in the way of Korea-implied guidelines of any kind, over here.
Does she want you to call her to help assist in dissolving her work/contract/visa situation, or does she just want to keep in touch and hang out? |

Sure, call her! She may have had to quit for financial or personal reasons. If you liked her and considered her as much a friend as a student, call...the sooner the better! |

Or, she might be hoping to continue on having English lessons with you, but not have to pay for them. It just depends on what you want to do with your time. It can be nice to have Korean friends, but I'm usually wary that they are using me for an free English lesson rather than truly being a friend. If you don't mind, then call her. |

Why would there be Korrean implied guidelines? She gave you her phone number, she wants you to call, you want to call her, so call her. Simple. |

I think he might be talking about "the two day rule" that we have back home. You know like in the movie _____ (I cant think of the name but the guy calls the girl the same night and keeps calling her because he cant complete the message he wants to leave). You're money baby!
I would give it four or five days then call her. Good luck and since you asked and got advise, I believe that all details of the encounter should be posted here. |

Oops...I first read into this thread about calling a foreign teacher who just quit. I suppose that the Korean teacher angle fits best, after reading the first post again.
Yes. Please call her. And remember to hit it.
Chiaa, I think you were referring to Swingers. Same rules apply. |
