Yeah.
The owners name is Ms. Nam.
New owner. Long hours. Low pay. VERY VERY small teachers room with no windows. 10 teachers share a room that is designed for maybe three people.
All the FT's have left. Large turn over. The new owner is picky picky and complains about everything under the sun. The person she has put in charge of the teachers, a korean, is himself about as bright as a 10 watt bulb.
Constant schedule changes. Constant. Many classes a day! 7/8/9 is not uncommon. You're probably a newbie, but then I see you have 77 posts, so...
an old hand would not be signing with this school.
Housing is shared and that is a BIG minus!! Never ever share housing in korea!!
The place, both the school and housing, are run down, looks depressing.
Your best bet is to talk with the teachers in person and see how they like it.
If the pay is still 1.8, don't go for it. It has been 1.8 for about 6 years now. And the new owner was offering the same. It's about time to increase the wage but the teachers won't make a stand.
Teaching materials are vastly outdated!
A good plus is the A/C and heaters in each classroom and are controled by the teacher! You get to sweating...and that A/C sure feels great!
Guro is old and run down.

Sounds like a pretty good response there.

The original poster might wanna post the location for the rest of the members on the board.

Is this a single operation or do they have different schools?

Wasn't thinking about signing with this school, was just curious about the vibe there because I think the old owner is about to become my new boss. Know anything about the previous owner?

Her name is Mrs. Kwan.
Outgoing, friendly but LOVES money. It's all about money and how much she can make.
Enrollment has dropped since the new owner took over. Parents don't like her it seems. And the old owner wants her money. No students and she'll lose what money she has coming..... so that is the reason for the rumors about her returning.
She is fair, pay was always on time, the teachers out to dinners, singing rooms, etc. many times. Severance was always paid. Airfare. Same as previous post with housing, it sucks. But that's the teachers fault for not standing up for better housing and or single housing. Enrollment was between 500- 600 students a few years back. You can just imagine how much money she was rolling in!!!!!! 500 students times 150.000 Won a month!
If Kwan does come back, a few of the teachers who left would also return.
But the schedule would still suck, too many classes and at times splits. Pay is still low. But the teachers did get along with her and she was always helping them out with problems that they may have had. Her husband is a big wig in the police department and helped out a few teachers who got into some minor trouble while working at EF. They still have pictures of the old teachers hanging on the wall as you come up the stairs!? Some those pics are 5/6 years old!

A Little off-topic, but how do you know so much about so many schools? You have something to say about just about every school that is asked about? How many schools have you worked at? And why is everything you write about always negative?

Just curious.
