hi -i'm going to beijing for a holiday. can anyone give me some valid tips on the aforementioned above. what is a good area to get a hotel? yes i'm doing the tourist traps, but anything else off the beaten track would be appreciated. how much should i pay for a 3or4 * hotel, or how much should i pay for a guide....plz let me know.thx. the china section on daves doen't luv newbie questions if ya know wat i mean... |

I went on a "package tour" from Korea to Beijing about 2 years ago. I'm not sure what you have planned but Tienamen square was too cool and you can walk through it and go straight into the "forbiddon city". Man I really felt like i was in a movie.
The Great wall was life altering as well. You'll have to take a bus out there and it's quite the hike up it (r you can take the lift (recomended) but it's worth seeing. Its beautifull if not peacefull.
The hting with the tours is.. they will "guide" you to government shops. They are WAY ove priced. DO NOT BY THERE! Go to some local markets and you'll get some great deals. |
