Just wondering if the women who wouldn't apply for a "whites/Caucasian only" job would use the same principles here.

Yes. I've had two job interviews. In both cases the hogwans had more men than women already working there and wanted to balance out the numbers. Neither were anti-male.

Isn't balancing the numbers a recognition that it makes a difference whether a man or woman is doing the job, and therefore sexist?

I think men are better police officers and doctors.

No, I don't think so, not in this case anyway.

Maybe some men don't want to do kindy. What makes a woman better at it?

Of course some men are better than some women at kindi, just as some women are better than some men...
When I taught kindi, it was with a real dour beep, who seemed to hate kids. Just because she had a vajina, does not mean she has some inate empathy for children.
More idiocy from the hagwon owners...

Kindy was my favorite class. My other male friend felt the same way. The kids loved us.

Hypothetically, there's a difference is between excluding "minority" groups and "majority" groups.

"Caucasian only" ads seek to hire only from the majority group.

"Females only" ads seek to hire from what many consider to be a minority group.

Let the Affirmative Action debate begin. Laughing

If we're the majority group, there must be a hell of a lot of melanin-deficient gnomes in this country.
That said, I haven't applied for any white only jobs and can't envision myself doing so, but I did apply for a male only job once (it turns out that the boss's wife would have flipped if he'd hired anyone but males) after getting turned down by a whole bunch of places that claimed they wanted only females (with in retrospect probably really meant "*beep* off you unqualified ugly idiot" in a polite way).

I meant that in relation to the group being hired as foreign teachers. Very Happy Of course, I realize, affirmative action is the last thing on any hogwan director's mind, but I just wanted to make the distinction.

That said, I've never applied for female only positions, because I'm always suspicious of motivations here. Are they looking for only women because they want a kindie teacher? (Ick. I don't do kindergarten.) Or is it because they think women are more of a pushover than men, and they can get away with more? Or are they going to be the type of school that complains if you don't wear enough make-up? It's just asking for trouble.

I see. There is no difference between a woman's and a man's work, but they would just prefer a woman?

What happened to equality? Are women more equal than men?
