Ok, i'm usually not into trolling. And I KNOW this subject has been doneto death. But what is with foreigners bringing weed into this country!!??
http://news.naver.com/news/read.php?mode=LSD&office_id=035&article_id=0000106079§ion_id=102&menu_id=102
In no way do I think that Koreans are innocent in this AND I have no doubt that Korea will have to deal with it's own drug/alcohol problems soon enough.
But why would anyone in their right mind try to bring some weed over here? Is $40 an hour teacing privates illegally or $20 legally really just not good enough?
Maybe i'm missing something. Maybe it's a massive business and i'm just not seeing the opportunities. Maybe its easier than I think?
Honestly though, doing time in a foreign country just doesn't appeal to me. Back in Canada it would be bad enough, but over here... I really don't want to imagine.
So, am I missing something? Is there "really" that much money to be made in the Korean drug trade? |

It will never change no matter what country one lives in. Some people just don't have the brains God gave goldfish and think outside normal channels.
As long as it's illegal, idiots will always try and circumvent it or something. It makes them feel cool or look cool to others. |

Bringing in 50 kg of the stuff is almost begging to get caught. What was the motivation? For them, it was 250 million won. People have done far dumber things for a lot less money.
You raise an interesting point. It always seems to me that when Korean reporters write about the illegal drug trade in this country, they give the impression the source of the problem is foreign (reminds me of the american war on drugs, in a way).
It also reminds me of an article I once read in a Korean paper. The reporter had written a piece on the increasing number of crimes commited by foreigners. I did my own little research and it turns out that foreigners living in Korea were still 3 times less likely per capita to commit crimes than Korean citizens. I emailed him about it and he wouldn't admit to his error.

all argument about drugs good/drugs bad aside...
what do you all think korea would be like if everybody was stoned instead of swizzled off soju?
i, for one, think it would be very interesting and often very funny. |

There have been several widely-reported celebrity busts in Korea, and the son of former President Park(and brother of current GNP star Ms. Park) is known to be a long-time addict. Plus, you've got the whole bond-sniffing phenomenon. I've talked about all this with my students, so I wouldn't say that Koreans deny that any drug use takes place over here. But they probably do think, and not without reason, that there os far less drug use over here than in other countries. |

"Uh-oh. That guy's staring at me. And he doesn't look Korean. Damn. Maybe he's Japanese. Holy shit, he IS Japanese!! Probably a secret agent. After the kimchee recipe. I'd better call the cops. Uh-oh. What if the cops are Japanese too? Some guys left over from the occupation. But then they'd be really old, wouldn't they? Holy Shit!! Maybe they drink the blood of Korean children to keep themselves young!! Sure, why not, could happen". |

For once I agree %100 with kiwinuts. A daily 4:20 break is just what this anal-retentive place needs. |

my last 2 customs experiences are two compelling arguments for stuffing some of that sticky icky in a certain orifice when i come back from thailand this holiday.
i went thru the metal detector with a spent latte in my hand...
of course my belt buckle set it off, but when they checked me thoroughly they neglected to scan the empty coffee cup.
the things i could have stuck in that cup... |

It's especially stupid since you can easily grow 50kg of pot, without the risk of transporting it....my mate grew 16-20kgs of it, unfortunately, his ex was a NARC.
But, in all honesty, he didn't mean to grow that much, just personal (and friends' use)....seriously. Just planted num seeds thinking that only 10% would reap a decent stalk....viva la Korea summers....
