My school has approved for me to work at a University summer camp, and the Visa addition is in the works. I\'ll be teaching elementary again (been a year since that -- should be interesting).

What was your \"summer camp\" experience? Do they provide good materials, etc.? I\'ve pretty much been hired just by resume and photo, although they are going to do the obligatory interview later this week.

The camp is being held at a University, however it is not \"run\" by the University.

They say they won\'t pay until the end of the 4 weeks. Is this standard practice? I\'m a little leery of that, being that it\'s a 1 month shot.

I am looking for one too, Gollum and I have the same reservations about the workplace and pay.

Also is it just me or has the number of teachers around looking made them more stingy about their pay?

I mean a whole month for 800,000- 1,000,000 in Seoul and the person got their own butt here and has to go to Japan to be legal?

I seem to remember them being well paid last year?

Also they are well known for being busts for immigration and for having even shadier business practises then hagwons.

Hmm, maybe I should reconsider.

Well, I meet with them tomorrow. They refused to tell me the name of their institution over the phone, and they refused to pay weekly or even bi-weekly. They said they will tell me the name of thier institution tomorrow when I meet with them.

I am told by the recruiter, however, that the camp is run by the University it is located at.

Why be so worried about just telling me that directly over the phone?

If they scare me enough, I am going to tell them I would like photocopies of their Korean ID cards. Of course they wont hire me if I ask that, but it would be fun to ask.

By the way, I used the search function and am searching for more information from new people who might happen to see this post. Thought I\'d spare the mods the bother of looking and posting such.

It's weird how they won't even tell you the name. Bad rep?

Check the board and that once you find out, and I guess be careful.

Could it be that they are run through the university, and are just kids but are trying to use the universities name?

Imagine working your butt off and them not paying. If they don't want to pay you regularly, I guess they should at least give you a reason. So many of them want to give one payment for the whole summer. I guess it's up to you to trust them.

If you ask me, something is fishy and it's not just your breath, Gollum!

But they all operate in strange ways and you have to trust someone or you wouldn't get a job!
