I just got my first Hep A vaccination, so it should be effective by now and I'll be good to go by the time I get to Korea. It was covered by my insurance. If you get a second "booster" within 6 months to a year of the first one, you are then vaccinated for 30 years to life. It's pretty easy, so I'd just do that rather than worrying about it too much.
At the same doctor's appointment I got a tetanus shot and pills to take that will vaccinate me against typhoid.
Hep B vaccine is also a good thing to get. It became widespread/required when I was in high school, so I already got the shot, but if you haven't, get that too. Better to be safe. |

This is good information to have. I'll be leaving for Korea in six weeks and need to get started with the vaccinations. Anyone know the going rate for Hep A and B shots in the U.S. [without insurance]? |

This may seem obvious to some people, but go to your Health Dept instead of a doctor for vaccinations... cheaper.
And mine were about $35 for A and B (I get the 2nd round of shots in a month and presumably it's $35 more). |
