You can also make 'kongnamul kuk' . Bean sprouts boiled in water with garlic, salt and red pepper powder. Lots of protein.

I think they're after the packaging rather than the product.

Everyone's off the mark here... Wink

You can quite safely fast and drink only water for well over two weeks. Try it. You'll find the first 5-7 days really tough as your body craves food and drives out all the toxins from stuff like coffee and chocolate you've been used to. This may even cause you headaches. But by the second week your desire for food will have disappeared completely and you will feel very invigorated.

... and you'll be able to save 20,000 to boot.

Wow, wish I knew where u guys bought rice so cheap. rice here is 1 kg for 7,800.that is the cheapest I found. Really. I am not in Seoul, and groceries here are not as cheap as I got when I lived there. Well, cucumers now are 5 for 1,000 won, but the cheapest I ever have seen was a large, 250 gram can of tuna for 1,000 won, and that was on sale, the price in all the stores around here is 1,200. Living in Gangneung has its benefits, the sea 1/2 hr walk away and fresh clean air, but groceries aren't cheap.

You must be buying the wrong kind of rice. Are you sure you aren't buying chapsal or hyunmi?

In my city, if you donate blood you get a free movie ticket. So you still wouldn't have food, but you could go see Spiderman.

He could stand outside the theatre and sell the ticket for 1000 won less than what they charge.

brown rice is a bit cheaper, and I buy that too. Nope this. This is regular white polished rice. The other rice that is not polished, sticks together like glue, and taht also is a bit cheaper.
Thought of another cheap meal, they sell this sausage type meat that comes in this long tube, differnt kinds called ham, or "home sausage". I just bought this today, 500 grams cost 1,380 won and it will make about 8 sandwiches, or you can drit fry it Funy, never at home would I ever buy this stuff, but here it is OK, its a fast and easy "meat", and the price is right.

We didnt live in Seoul but my son and I ate very cheaply in Korea. Yeah, buying the rice will take up a big chunk of your cash but then you're fed for two weeks. I used to have it with eggs or egg dipped tofu and kinchi. If you're paying 100 won or 150 won per egg thats still okay, considering you dont have to have more than one per meal. The bean paste for miso soup is good for a protein fix, just mix with hot water. And you can get water free if you boil it, at least thats what I did a lot.

You can eat well every day for NO MONEY!

Just go to the big stores, like E-mart, Lotte mart, Samsung Plaza, and the like and eat as many free samples as you can. Hit different stores on different days. There's never anything illegal in getting free samples, right?? Hell, I still do it now, just for kicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
