I just got back from my visa run. Only one hitch. the ferry company put the wrong date on my return ticket, so when I tried to check in to come back, they told me that the ticket was already expired. I had to buy a whole new ticket at a much higher price.

In Japan, the company assured me that things would all be taken care of, so I should just wait till I got back to Korea and work it out here. Yeah right...............
So when I get here, the ferry company accuses me of making a bunch of changes to the ticket, which would nullify any claims for compensation. I argued that I never changed a thing, the only thing that was wrong was the date. The girl had written the 12th instead of the 13th.

They refused to reimburse me, except for half of the original price.

Which conveniently was covered by the fact that the new ticket that I had to buy was 60% more expensive than the original. So I ended up paying for 3 trips and getting only 2.

I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else recently.

Check the dates on your tickets closely. Shocked

Also, my visa is only for 6 months? WTF? I asked the guy at the Korean embassy and his explanation made absolutely no sense. What the hell is up with that? The visa says it is for one year, but then the expiry date is in December? What are they doing?

It's so you end up paying for another visa. I had the same thing pulled 2 weeks before the expiration of my contract.

It wouldn't surprise me if the shiping company has a racket in misdating tickets since teachers are probably their most common foreign patrons, or, human error, although, is there a way of confirming travel itineries?

Unless you have time and energy to persist in your pursuit of your rightful refund, you may have to put it down to experience. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

You have to take it to the immigration office to get verified before that time. Then it is valid for the year. If you do not go, then it is only valid up to December. No it does not mean you have to pay for two visas.

I got the boss to phone immigration to see what's up. They said that the expiration date is how long I would have to come back to Korea after getting my visa from Japan. Which makes no sense at all, but that's what they are saying.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I will end up having to pay a bunch more money to immigration over this. Rolling Eyes
