I've been offered a position in Ulsan. (looking for an east coast posting.)
The problem is my girlfriend is coming with me . That in itself isn't a problem, as I am glad to have her along. The problem is, ESL is a lifetime career for her. She knows the students she wants to teach and the ones she doesn't. IE. She is willing to teach kids as long as she also gets to teach adults...(She teaches university prep ESL here in Canada)
Anyway we have both been offered a "couples" posting with a two bedroom apartment included. The problem is the school only teaches elementary and middle school.
Are there any suggestions? Maybe negotiate to pay a portion of the two bedroom rent? I figure they might be a little ticked if she is living in one of their apartments and not working for them even if we do pay a portion of the rent.
I also thought about getting a job for myself and having her accompany me and have her look for a more suitable job when she arrives. The problem with that is it seems silly to turn down free accommodation in order to pay large amounts of key money and rent.
Any thoughts? |
