I'm taking a visa trip to Osaka from August 7-10. Does anyone know any good things to do while I'm there? Thanks.

Sunday head to Osaka castle in the early afternoon. Near, I believe, the JR station, there are free rock concerts. It's the wildest thing. There are like 6 or 7 stages all in a row. Everyone plays at the same time. You basically have to stand in front of a speaker to hear the band you're interested in.
You hear some great music and if you're into Japanese women, they're there in droves. |

Just hang out for a bit and be friendly and you're sure to meet some cool Japanese people. I went just for the weekend but it was one of the wildest weekends I've ever had. Plus, these cool Japanese dudes invited me to their home for a full-on sushi feast. After leaving there I was like, "What the f*** am I doing in Korea?" |

Please excuse the pics. My camera isnt getting younger and I dont have unlimited bandwidth....
1) Ride on top, and pretend you're the silver surfer... or in this case, Surfing Smurf.
2) Two words: Skinny Dip
3) Find this guy, ask him how he got the coolest bike in the world.
I went a few weeks ago on my run, with the intention of taking enough photos to make a pretty decent Osaka Run Info Page, but my camera is getting twitchy and half the shots didnt come out right.
Everything was blurry, which I think means they'll look normal if you go on the run drunk. |

Ah. That purple subway train from the airport. Almost worth that trip just to ride it.
What is it called? The RapiB Express.
The man who designed that train had to be either taking a lot of acid or had watched one too many anime movies. |

Most of the luxury trains in Japan that I've taken were similar. But you go broke quickly taking them, so it was the standing room only train for me |

I actually took the shinkansen down to hiroshima if you got the cash or inclination it's a really great city. Street cars and canals give it almost a european feel.
Also for a gag behind the korean consulate is korea town. If your in to trashy 80s stuff this is the place for you. I bought my mr potato head there. |

One of the best deals on the planet is the one or two week unlimited JR Pass for tourists. For the price of a round trip shinkansen trip between tokyo and osaka you can get a 1 week pass. For a little more you can upgrade to the Midori first class pass. It's great. |
