|
|
During my summer camp for my middle school girls, I am showing them fun, fluffy movies and then making them answer comprehension and free talking questions at the end.
This is what I have shown them and what I plan on showing them:
Bend it Like Beckham
Center Stage (not the greatest movie ever)
The Princess Diaries
I need to show them two more movies, and may want to change Center Stage for the next camp starting in two weeks. I am thinking of showing them Legally Blonde, maybe Bring It On, maybe Clueless, provided I can find these films. (Like I said, fluffy.)
Does anyone have any other recommendations for me to use as a back-up if I can not find these movies? Like I said, The Hurricane is a great movie, but don't want anything too heavy for the girls or too scary or too serious.
Thanks for your help! |

See, this is another thing I am thinking of...call me a worrier, but I hate thinking my god, I might put some idea into some girl's head. Like in Center Stage, there was a girl who was stick thin and "watching her weight" by barfing up everything she ate. Well!
I know, I'll show Pretty Woman and Serial Mom. LOL That's only if Set It Off and Sugar and Spice have already been rented out. LOL |

Harry potter will work- all of my girls in grade six have big crushes on the guy who plays Harry. |

How about Labyrinth? Or Neverending Story? Those were two movies that I really wanted to show my students, but could never find in the video shop.
Flight of the Navigator for the boys.
Treasure Planet tends to be unisex, though boys tend to enjoy it more. |

what about "stand by me"? i know it's about a group of boys, but it's such a good movie, i think they'd like it.
also, "the mighty" is good for kids. |

Almost forgot Cool Runnings. Kids will be bored for the first 10 minutes, but once it gets moving, it's all good. |

middle school girls...
i would definitely have to agree with Mulan. all korean girls seem to love if for whatever reasons.
also any KEANU REEVES movie. i'd say that surfing movie he was in would be great (maybe cape fear), or something like that.
also...MR. BEAN never fails to thrill. |

I have to watch the movies too...so NO Keanu Reeves. Maybe with the exception of Bill and Ted's Excellenrt Adventure.

Uptown Girls is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Somebody recommended Pleasentville. Thats a good choice and also it emphasizes studying hard which is a bonus |
