I was down to 60k for two weeks until last week. Other than ramyeon, one thing that lasted a while was some dunkass I got from my butcher, which I sauteed in butter and lemon like a Wienerschnitzel. Made some mashed potatoes from scratch that lasted the whole week.
Fried up another cutlet in olive oil and used it to top some pasta with tomato sauce.
For breakfast, one 700 won samkakk kimbab.
Kimchi chigae can also be a cheap long-lasting dish on the Korean economy.
Oh, and the big secret to eating on the week before payday...

My gas bill is only 18,000 W thats why I cannot believe they turned it off!!!!!!
WFT???
I will be fine, i have a refrigerator full of veggies, and a microwave... i actually tried to make the soup in the microwave... slowly and surely but its working. In 32 minutes i will have enough cabbage soup to last a good 4 days, and on friday my boss takes us out to eat. I also have a new bag of rice.
So 62,000 to go, i have to buy birth control pills, thats 12, 000 and cat food, 10,000. I should be good without grocery shopping until monday or so.... so thats 40,000W for 7 days.
I think i can do it no problem.
It'd be even better if my boss pays before vacation next week, but i doubt it.
I refuse to borrow money, or get advances. Its my own sticky situation. Its ok too, i can stand to lose a few |

korea... you guys are in the right place to eat shit..
another stab at korean food.. what you guys are talking about eating is traditional korea food it is an absolute joke... starving people eating whatever they can and then calling it 'traditional korean food'
don't forget, when times are really tough and you have no use for your pets, you can eat them too.... |

In terms of instant noodles, eat ramyeon, bibim myeon (instant neng myeon that is delicious), jopaghetti (instant jja jjang myeon also delicious)
Note: add a slice of process cheese and an egg to your ramyeon and you will be very satidfied with the results... add some rice at the end to lap up the juices.
eggs
butchingae/jon (korean pancakes) - these can be made with mix or flower/water/pepper and salt with kimchi, chives, onions, and/or gochu then fried
kimchi bokim bap - buy some kimchi and cut it into bite size chunks and fry them (but not to much), in the oil of your choice. Once the kimchi looks done, push it to the side of the frying pan, add some more oil fry some rice for a little while. Mix the kimchi and the rice, as a fried egg on top with pepper and salt and you have kimchi bokim bap.
buy some side dishes in the market and eat them with rice
kimbap - bought in the supermarket, it is cheap and it has everything you need to stay healthy
seaweed soup - very cheap to make; not sure how though
Good luck! |

Since people think you are a freak anyway (white ghost) you could utilize a method my snowboard buddies used to use when we went on our $0 all-inclusive snowboard excursions in university.
Go to the bar early (before cover charge) find ugly girls to buy drinks for you.
Go snowboarding walk up the first lift and board the rest of the day without a lift ticket as long as you don't go to the bottom. (not applicable)
Sleep in the common rooms of expensive resorts. People won't usually call you on it if you look like you belong. (maybe not applicable)
Go to a place where there is lots of people eating cafeteria style. Most people leave food on the tray they leave on the table. Keep an eye on them while they are eating to ensure they don't goob in your potential dinner. When they leave, snatch the tray and score the leftovers.
Damn we were silly. |

Hold up....12K for pills!?
Umm, are they chocolate flavoured? The most I've ever paid (no, I don't take them...but have been sent to get them) was 7,000 won....usually 5,000 in the less-busy areas. You can buy them at any pharmacy.

| I use a brand of pills called Triquilar its a multi dose pack, i hear more expensive here. Dr Sung perscribed them, nice and strong...... I don't care how much, as long as i don't get pregnant. And in Canada, I was paying 38 a pack so this is peanuts. |

I didn't want to whine about all the rice and anchovies I was eating. About how my stomach blew up like one of those African kids who eat nothing but rice.
Yet I made it.
Yesterday was payday and I painted the town red, meat that is. I ate Korean grilled beef and veggies for dinner, ice cream for dessert and a croissant for the heck of it.
Today I'll calm down and go shopping, especially for what I miss the most: fruit! A lot of fruit.
Thanks again everyone. The advice was helpful and the offers of support nice to hear. I'm going to make sure I keep my cupboards and freezer full from now on so that even a financial emergency won't leave me empty handed.
BTW Osangirl, how's it going? If you need some help, just PM me, I'll send you some cash. I totally understand the fantasizing about brunches at major hotels, it feeds your hunger when you're eating blah foods over and over. |

Thanks Hardy boy.... no cash needed, as i said.... independent woman
I got cat food (15,000) and birth control pills (found em for 12,000) and still a pot of cabbage soup.
I went to Lotte mart yesterday.... got my lemons for the weekend (can't drink water without a slice of lemon-geesh im spoiled) my bottle of diet coke and some box curry.
I have 20,000 left. No problem. Im just going to buy more lemons with that, more diet coke, a cabbage, two tomatoes and make my soup again, and box curry for every other day.
I will update you on my African stomach end o next week.
