It's pushing 90 degrees for a nighttime low, a dip a in a cool pool during the daytime sounds blissful. Does anyone know if there are any outside swimming pools in/around Daegu?

Sounds great. I just don't think I could take the heat long enough to get there and back.

Swimming in Daegu?

You called them "holes" first, not I. Surprised

You are an hour and a half away from one of the longest sandy beaches on the east coast, Bukbu Beach, just a few kilometres north of Pohang.

Hop on one of the many cheap and fast buses heading east, get there mid-morning, wile away the afternoon and be back in Daegu in time for dinner.

If you can get to the Sincheon river (the one running North-South, just east of downtown), you will find lots of bike paths, tennis courts, and playgrounds, stretching from Jisan-dong in the south to up near where the river merges with the Geumho river.

If you can get the east bank of the Sincheon in the Bukbu area, not far from the bridge going to Kyungpook University, you will see a fenced-in public outdoor pool.

Other than that, get a Korean friend to run a search on Naver for the locations of other pools.

Hope you can find one. Daegu must be scorching right about now. Smile

just south of DEBEC PLAZA, along the SINCHON (river), there is a large outdoor hole. keep in mind though, this is summer vacation period....you will probably be shoulder to shoulder with no room to even get horizontal in the water.

Try SPA VALLEY.....

its on the south side of Pa-Dong.

Good deal, I found out Hawon has big pool and is 20-30 minutes south of Seong-Seo (westside of Daegu). Many thanks.

I lived in Pohang in a house across the road from Bukbu beach - I wouldn't set foot in that chemical, sewerage, germ infested water -
(all the chemicals from POSCO) I saw dead fish, and other disgusting matter floating along and being washed up on the beach -

don't forget to calculate for an extra 2 hours for your stop-off at the hospital for when your skin breaks out in a terrible rash
