Bundang is really nice. Cleaner air. Cleaner streets. Good bus system getting you back and forth to Seoul.

Much of the town is less than 10 years old. Tons of foreigners here. I almost have to double-check to see if I'm in Itaewon on some days *laugh*.

Nightlife here ain't the best YET (more family-oriented area and few college babes), but I would say Bundant is really one of the "hottest" areas to work in now, and I will argue that it's hotter than Kangnam in several ways. Adult classes are still the big thing in Kangnam, however the Bundang kiddie schools really seems to be growing at a miraculous pace. It can only grow more, too, since there are tons of empty apartment buildings in various stages of development.

What do you think... is Bundang the new Kangnam? (BTW, I love Pyongchon, too, when I visit).

Is this Korea's version of "Urban Flight?"

Well, they're both over-priced places for Korean upper-class wannabes. So they do have something in common.

However, Kangnam has about 1000 times more nightlife, restaurant, shopping and cultural interest than Bundang. Which isn't hard because Bundang has zero.

Exactly! Doesn't say much for Kangnam either, does it? I don't rate either place but if I had to I would much prefer to live in Kangnam.

But the point is, one can travel to Kangnam in less than 30 minutes from Bundang, usually.

Wouldn't you rather have clean air, wide streets, and a larger, newer apartment for the cost of what's in Kangnam? How much time do you spend partying compared to day-to-day living?

Or do you value your party time and "cultural interest" so much that you require it immediately after you walk out of your front door? Tell me, is a short bus ride really too far for you if you plan to go out to eat at a nice restaurant in Kangnam?

Believe it or not, there are restaurants in Bundang, too.

You guys can have Kangnam. It's dirty, overpriced, definately overrated, and I can go there quite quickly and conveniently when I want. So why would I care to live there?

By the way, most teachers I know who teach in Kangnam don't live there. They commute to work every day from cheaper parts of town (and many of them commute around 30 minutes to get to work).

I'm with Eamo. Wouldn't want to live in either. If I wanted live in a 'clean' place I'd find one in my own country.

I lived in Bundang for 1 year a while back. The bicycle paths are really nice! The air isn't really the cleanest, but it beats Seoul. Many rich people are moving down to Bundang area and I think you'll see places like Yongin, Asan, Cheonan & parts of Daejeon become expensive places for people to live in he next 5 or so years. Lots of new development happening. Anyway, that's just my guess.

Bundang is alright, but I'm happy in the NE in Nowon-gu.

Cheers!

I like it, but only because it's central to what's important to me. I also got a swank pad, which helps.

BUNDANG was voted best city to live in korea for a reason!
ITS the best place in KOREA!!!!

I have been here 3 years,. and have no plan on leaving here!!
I would have probably left korea if it wasnt for bundang!!
this city has everything you could possible want!
and doesnt have the crap you dont want!!
what else can you ask for..

when you want to see dirty downtown seoul.. just take a bus 20minutes
to dirty pollution central!!

wouldnt recommend bundang for the first termers who are looking for a real down dirty asian experience.. but I do for people who want to relax in a nice area, then bus into hell on weekends,..
bundang ROCKS!!!!

I thought it was boring as hell for the 21 months I was there. It came at the right time for me, though. Sometimes boring is good.
