| Yes Saxif they do but they get paid when they place teachers...hence they represent both. |

I assure you I am not a recruiter only a very confused esl job seeker trying to figure out how the whole recruiter issue works and attempting to get information for myself and anyone else in the same situation.
Are you suggesting that I am using a false identity? The irony. |

| Us in DC - Chances are high that you will get screwed over by your school. This is, after all, Korea. I'd take the first job that comes my way and just wish for the best if I were you (which, thankfully, I'm not). |

Hmm... so you're posting "advice" on something you're confused about.
Errr... um....
And no, I am not suggesting you're using a "false identity." I merely said it sounds like you are a recruiter.
I'm curious: do you expect all posters on Daves to post their real identity?
How about you? |

You are right. The title should have read something like "Confused newbie doesn't understand how the recruiter thing works" or something like this. In retrospect, I admit that I should have picked a better suited title. Oh well.
However, your post certainly sounded as though you were suggesting that I was a recruiter. I assure you and anyone who may read this post in the future that that is not the case. As far as socks go I take no issue with anyone who uses one. Particularly when everyone calls them out on it. But you must admit there is some hypocrosy in a sock calling a sock a sock. |

| Did u post your resume on Dave's? I never had a problem finding a job that way. It is easy. You can say "no recruiters please". Many schools are looking directly. If they hire u this way they don't ahve to pay a recruiters fee. |

| I didn't do that. I wish I had. I posted my resume without stipulating "no recruiters." At the time I didn't really understand how all this worked. But I think your suggestion is a good one. At this time I have a sufficient number of offers to consider. |

I am glad u have some jobs to consider. A good word of advice: Make sure you talk to the school directly. remember, the recruuiters get a commission and you want to ask the director questions on your own. Some recruiters lie. And to their credit, some times jobs do not tell recruiters the whole story. It is hard for u to be careful cause you arent in Korea already and u can't go and see the school.
I wish you the best. Also, GOd forbid you come here and do not like the school, until you go to Japan to get your visa, you are not working at the school legally,. so if things dont look right you are free to get another job. When you are here, then you can go look. The conbtract you sign means nothig uless you have that visa. If the school/recruiter lies, then you can feel free to look elsewhere. |

Alert to Newbies: Don't listen to newbies who don't even have a job yet!
I talked to several different recruiters and it worked fine for me.
I got in with a good school 'cause I took my time. |

C'mon, give the guy a break! This isn't some moron trolling the OT forum ... his information may have been misguided but his intentions where honest and he was trying to be helpful and to share information - the original purpose of this board. Let him know that you disagree with his post, but jeez, lighten up folks!
Go and pick on the pigs trolling the OT and GD forums at the moment. Lots of pigs out there |
