Just a suggestion. You could try this method. Find your max 12 rep weight. Then do a set of six reps. Rest ONLY one minute (if you need a few seconds to get set up, start getting into position a few seconds early). Do six sets of six reps, each time resting only one minute between sets. An added benefit of this is that the workout goes quickly, allowing to spend more time outside. At the end of this do two regular sets of chest flyes to failure. Do not do any other chest work. Only eight sets, but that should feel like more than enough.

You may want to do this on the machine (if you do not have a capable spotter for barbell bench press.) Could be dangerous otherwise.

Great.Ill be fielding some suggestions. This is a good one. How many weeks should I do this for?

Also, one of the reasons I try to get in early is cause we have one belt, and this stupid ajossi sometimes grabs it before me. The guy is an idiot. He worksout with no plan, hes allover the place and most of the time he stands around watching the TV or, and Im not kidding, dances. I think hes practicing steps to some walts or whatever. I wanna shove the red cap he wears in his mouth for hogging the belt. bastard.

so.. does anyone one else have any funky equipment in thier gym? I have two peices of interest.

the first is one of the 70's machines with a large cloth band you wrap around your back and it "vibrates" (rather just shakes you from side to side). at first i laughed at it but actually like it now for abit of a massage.

the second is a body fat composition machine. you stand on it.. it pump electricity into you and it tell you how fat you at and such. I dont tink its acurate but at least its good at telling my weight.

we have both those machines....

the shaker machines have been in both the gyms Ive used here in Seoul. And they are used constantly.
I am pretty sure they are not permitted or considered safe in North America, been show to damage internal organs.

The body fat one, is BioElectrical Impedance, ive taken courses and it is one of the faster more reliable ones, other measurements all have difficulties. It is a fairly reliable measurement if the equipment is good.

One other one... we have is the one that turns you upside down and people hang there.

There is also this stretching clas which is rediculous, i might try it one day but it scares me. Tonnes of balistic style stretches and other things which i learned in University may not be good for you... especially a beginner.

thought they were intresting

MOD note: This thread about issues particular to living in Korea is split off of the "ESL Fitness Challenge" thread.

If one wants to talk about exercise and weightlifting in general then go to that thread on the off-topic forum: http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=15020

However, if one wants to discuss exercise issues in the Korean context, then post here.
