Hi! I'm completely new here Very Happy

I was wondering if anyone has come across any contracts in Korea of less than 1 year in duration. I'm hoping to find something for 4 to 6 months but everything I see is minimum 1 full year.

you can probably negotiate a six month contract. I've known quite a few people that have had them. Be aware though that schools tend to only offer one way airfare and no severance ifyou're on a six month-and then wave them in your face as incentive to renew for another six.

I was on a 6 month job at my last school. Yes, it's possible, depending on the situation, but more difficult to find places that want to bother with 6 months.

You can but its not legal AFAIK (immgration only like to give 1 year E2 visas).

Not sure what AFAIK means, but I don't think it's illegal. Usually, immigration gives visas for a full year. You can always cancel it after six months without any problem.

So would my best bet be to take a full year contract and break it after 6 months? Could there be any financial penalty for that (other than obviously missing out on the severance and probably the money for my return flight home)? What I mean is, can my employer fine me or anything for breaking the contract?

There shouldn't be financial penalties, but that doesn't mean there won't be. The best thing to do is ask the school for a six month contract- with the option to renew, get a full year visa just in case.
