Do you get these? Any more? the classroom is a hazardous place.
3) DOOR BLACKE EYE: If you're little more than a bouncer in some of your classes, you spend time stationed by the door to prevent the little rotters from running out. Of course there are always late students who announce their arrival by kicking or ramming the door open at full force, oblivious to the fact theres a teacher positioned behind it.
2) CHAIR LEG STOMP: I have to teach a couple of kindie glasses in slippers. This leaves my toes exposed to the kids shuttling their chairs around, sometimes landing their chair right on my foot. AAAAHHHH!!!!!
1) GOOLIE/BALL BARGE: Straight in at number one, the all time most painful: if you teachkinder or 8/9 year olds, you will know that their shoulders are usually at average teacher groin height. They run straight into you, leaving you a wincinig cripple- and they don't even realise they've done it. games involving tennis balls are also risky. |

| There is also 'split pants syndrome' from squatting to pick up the marker you dropped. (This is from the injured dignity department, not the physical injury department.) |

I defy someone out there to top this one-
How about the newly sharpened pencil - stab in the boob!
(it was two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for it to heal properly) |

| I'm glad he didn't stab me in the eye as hard as he stabbed you in the boob. (Didn't require a trip to the doctor - lucky me.) |

Thats pretty severe. I had a friend last year who recieved the old drawing pin on her chair. Of course, unawares, she sat on it. According to her the scream almost shattered the windows and she just yelled at the kid to get out... Amazing how controlled teachers are under provocation. 2 years back I probably would've hit any kid who did that, now, I'd probably be able to just kick them out as well. |

Of course I toss them around quite a bit! and swing them like a little agi(baby) to embaress them when their really naughty! so it gets damn rowdy in my class. |

Injury to my sanity:
From now on I will only give out my cell phone number to students that I can really trust--no longer a priviledge for the whole class.
I got a stalker a few years ago. She would call me so much that I had to keep my phone off. Then within two minutes of turning it on again--there went my favorite tune again. I actually had to change my number. Thanks, LG Telecom for not charging me for that.
She would call at 5 in the morning, she would harass other students, and she even came to a class she wasn't enrolled in to yell at me while I taught. I had to tell my boss to kick her out of my classes. Some of the other details I won't go into, but SCARY!!!
Now for the paranoia: It was winter, and she wore a long red coat with a hood. It just so happened that half of the university-aged girls that year HAD THE SAME COAT!!! Everywhere I looked, I thought I saw her. AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGHGHG |

I done got a concussion today according to the local doctor.
I was pissed as hell at some middle school students that kept disturbing my elementary class... so as I went to the classroom they were hiding in, they locked the door and tried to hold it shut. I am stronger than they are, so I tried to pull it open, but they held on just long enough that when they suddenly let go, it smacked me in the forhead hard enough to knock me down (that frickin' hurt). When I fell back, my head snapped against the floor and hello Mr. Concussion. I remember gettin' smacked in the face with the door, but I don't remember hitting the floor, I was out cold. One of my students told me what else happened.
By the way, I only missed one class while they were taking x-rays and I taught my last two classes of the day. I couldn't stand up too well though, so I sat during them... too hell with my director and her "teachers should never sit during class" policy. |

I got stabbed behind the ear with a pencil and had a heavy metal object thrown at my mouth by KG's. But the most pain is the stretched sore red skin from kids grabbing my forearms and wanting to be lifted up. That ones self inflicted I suppose since I did it once (at the beginning of the year ) and gave them the idea. |
