APPLE has issued a safety recall for 28,000 batteries for its Powerbook notebooks, saying they posed a potential fire hazard.
A notice posted by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission advised users to stop using the batteries immediately. The faulty batteries, manufactured in Taiwan by South Korea's LG Chem, contain cells that may short and cause the battery to overheat, posing a fire hazard...
...The affected batteries were manufactured in the last week of December 2003 and used in Apple's 15-inch PowerBook models. Batteries being recalled have model number A1045 and serial numbers beginning HQ404, HQ405, HQ406, HQ407 or HQ408. |
