well, according to NBC's website, Korea has 2 official languages. haha...i guess this pissed some koreans off. hahaha

Quote:
Some influential foreign broadcasting companies Web sites have posted wrong information about South Korea and its language, an Internet-based civilian diplomatic mission dubbed ``VANK said Wednesday.

For example, National Broadcasting Co. (NBC) in the United States says that South Korea has two official languages Korean and English on its 2004 Athens Olympics special web page.

Quote from the Ajou University Korean textbook, Level One:

"Hangeul can be easily written by learning the characters for only a few hours and can be inscribed (sic) almost every human sound." (p.3)

I've heard this more than once from teachers with KSL degrees. Apart from the English sounds that can't be put in hangeul, what about all thouse other fun sounds like glottal clicks (Zulu), glides (Inuktitut), or fricatives (Hebrew)? And don't forget the bilabial clicks () and low-pitched growls that are universal to all of humanity?

However, I'll grant that spelling in hangeul is a whole lot easier to learn than English spelling.

I'd like to see them transcribe "ferrocarril" using Hangeul.
