well as it stands...I left ewha and went back to them 2 years ago...I gave my second school 45 days notice as it stated in my contract..they gave me 2 weeks to get out of korea...in the end and to not go into all the BS I ended up being without a job for almost 2 months and paying back about 2million won...but i got the ever so sought after release letter....
whatever you all decide to do...make sure you have 2 million in savings at any given time...this gives you the opportunity to leave when and if you need to do so...also it is my understanding that should you run now you cannot enter the country until your past E2 visa expires...and getting the release is not easy...
we all need to cover our own butts as well as those we work with...this is the case at my school...its team work - as hippyesque as it may sound - look out for yourselves and those around you....you never know when the soju monsters will come knocking...^^ |

If I was to do that, I would switch to my other passport and come back in.
I know poeple who have done it and they never got caught or questioned. |

Okay, so "D-day" is here. Here's hoping everyone gets paid their due salary today.
However, let's here the reports. Who got paid? Who didn't? If you didn't get paid, what was/is the excuse this time?

I'm also really curious if anyone got paid yesterday. If not... things don't look good for September 11th. |

I was paid...everyone at our branch got their cash...other than 2 teachers who finished last month not getting their deposits back, and the teacher who finished his contract friday not getting his bonus, we have all gotten our regular pay
....but next time this junk happens I hope more people will break from silence and get in touch with head office...we all know most of the directors other than the franchise owners are puppets....we need to work around them...all in all...4 day break til next session
...thanx to all who put in their 2 cents...cheers |

Two responses? One "yes" and one "no". That's it? C'mon. There must be more Ewha teachers out there. Let us know either way. We're curious.
BTW, Newfoundlander, sorry to hear things didn't work out for you. Any luck yet? Keep us updated on your situation.

I read all your posts and was wondering if all of the EWHA schools are still in financial difficulty or if you were all paid on time in September. I'd really appreciate any and all of your feedback. |

If the 50+ schools of Ewha in Korea had individual tales of financial insolvency and/or closure, this thread would be scorching hot right now, which it isn't. I'd say that these are isolated cases, not all. |

According to this poster it was all branches.

I currently work at Ewha. Yes it's true that all branches were only being paid 30% and the rest on the 20th.
It's true that Brian, the owner, has made some bad decisions in the past and they are finally catching up with him. Apparently, because of the bad economy, many franchise owners did not pay their monthly franchise fee. Ewha will be selling some of their current schools as franchises again and they will also be merging a school or two.
Brian opened many new schools that aren't doing very well either. It's simply a case of them spending money that they didn't have and losing the gamble.
