Have any US citizens gotten their Korean drivers licenses in Daegu? What did it entail? I've read the previous posts, but I believe that government offices (like immigration) can vary their requirements from office to office. Also, I've read that foreigners now have to take a written test, but my wife said this is only for certain nationalities? Anyone know the details?
Thanks. |

| As far as I have been told if you are american or canadian you can get one very easily with no test. I hear that kiwis and aussies have to write the test. |

| I sent my then valid Canadian driver's license to the Canadian embassy to have a notarized copy of it made as proof of its validity. All I needed was that little paper, a few passport pictures (maybe they take them there now), and my driver's license. I had to do was the eye test and the 'squatting test' (to see if I have full use of my legs). It cost 60 or 70 000 won for the Korean license. My friend told, who is American, told me she went through the same process. The best bet is to call your embassy. |

| I was seriously thinking about bringing my irish license to the agency outside Mokpo. Do you think they'd be able to translate provisional from Gaeilge ( irish language) into korean? It's just on the irish provisional license you can drive on your own up to a few years without a full license! |
