| Ha-ha...Pusan being like Miami. Now that is really funny. Big difference is that Miami is multicultural and Pusan...well...it's in Korea. Instead of worrying about meeting girls(you're gonna love having to deal with them here) try worrying about getting a decent job. Yes, no doubt, you are definitely 22. |

Night life there is planty and in Korea pretty girls are in every city(both foreign and Korean).
If that is the criteria for coming I would choose Seoul. |

Well girls are the most important factor for me coming over. In all honesty I am not coming to Korea to earn money but to live a little and to experience different things. I know many of you are actually qualified ESLers and you probably dont like people like me but I saw a good opportunity. So yes girls and night life are the most important thing but also is job, since I need do finance my adventures.
So now we have a change of heart. First everyone agrees on Busan and now we have Seoul. So are girls better in Seoul or are they just more approachable.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Wishmaster and I will listen to your suggestion. So where can I find better job opportunities or are they equal in both cities. |

I was 19 when I first came here in 1996 and I was only 23 when I became a teacher, so I know where you are coming from.
Let me give you a little perspective on the matter, dude.
In Pusan, the people are WAY more friendlier than the people you will ever meet in Seoul~ hands down. Even the expat community is much more friendlier.
As for girls~ the nicest, most friendliest girls I have ever met in Korea were from Pusan (there, they still have a small-town mentality. By that, the young ones would pass by saying "hi" and giggle. That is something you will never find in Seoul). Alot of the girls I've dated in the past who were great came from Pusan (those were the ones that had the perpetual smile on their face and if you mention it to them~ you might score some extra points.
As for nightlife~ If you do indeed decide to go to Pusan, you can go to Somyeon and the university area near PNU, there were a few clubs that were pretty cool.
And you can go to Texas Street (it is almost a mirror-image of Itaewon {a foreigner's district}, only in russian) [it is right across the street from Pusan Station]. This place has got alot of Russian nightclubs (there's one place that has live techno played by a band of Russian triplets) and restuarant. So this is a place you can also get an international place.
~ And if you get tired of Pusan, you can always take a break from the scene by going to Japan for a few days. Its only a few hours by ferry.
The only thing that made me skiddish about moving there was that I didn't think I could find things like deoderant and a decent doctor who spoke english.
After 4 and a half years in Seoul, I can say this with mild confidence; But if I had my chance to live it all over again, I'd choose Pusan in a heartbeat.
-----------------
TO THE REST OF THE POSTERS, TODAY IS MY LAST DAY IN KOREA FOR A WHILE. I WILL BE MOVING TO BEIJING IN A FEW HOURS. I HOPE TO BE THERE FOR A FEW YEARS BEFORE COMING BACK TO KOREA.
HAVE FUN, SEE YA'! |

| Thanks lestat thats exactly what I needed to hear. I will be coming to Seoul this winter as tourist to see what the job opportunities are like so do you think that it would be smarter to go to Pusan instead of Seoul? Or maybe I can check them both out by going to Seoul first and then to Pusan. What would be the cheaper and most useful way to go about it. |

| If all this praise for Pusan is true, why does Seoul have WAY more foreigners than Pusan? It's more than just the size. |

Pretty basic answer,
22 million in the Seoul/Kyoengido region
4 million in Busan
Supply and demand is what it is all about. |

I disagree that people are friendlier in Busan. I thought the people were much more burly and aggressive than here, especially the Busan Station area. I saw much more fighting and screaming bouts all over Busan than I have here.
Ulsan was a very friendly city though... |

i have always found that burliness and agressiveness often go together with friendliness. they denote passionate natures.
for me, pusan is way friendlier than seoul. people are less shy of yu here.
i imagine ulsan is friendly. so is ansan. working class towns are great. pity about the pollution though. |

I guess if you really find aggressiveness a friendly attribute than Busan is definitely a friendly place. |

| what i mean is that they often go together. passionate people can get aggressive sometimes, but for the most part they are friendlier than those who are less passionate. |

yo
i just got back from pusan.
pusan has hot chicks. i'd say seoul has hotter chicks.. apgujung-no and sinchon are just too hot... to really compare with pusan..
but pusan has loads of clubs as does seoul..
honestly, when i first went to pusan, i thought it was actually prettier than seoul was as well.. the beaches and all.
but anyways, whereever you go, you'll have fun .

Now this is what I had in mind. We have discussion about friendliness in Pusan and Seoul form people who live there and know the best.
I am not very concerned about fights since I dont cause any and I dont run from any. Its interesting how hojucandy sees aggressiveness and friendliness. I think he is saying that people with big heart will do anything for what they believe in even fight if the occasion calls for it.
Now how about we discuss girls and nightlife in these cities. Lets talk their appearance, approachability, openness, and how they view foreigners.
NOTE lets not turn this into bashing of kgirls, kmen or western girls the same way as other threads turned. |

yes, that's is basically what i meant... i also meant that passionate people are moved either way - to love or hate... and i like that better than cool and aloof behavior. i lived 10 years in PNG among people who would quite happily kill you if hey did not like you... and they were wonderful generous friends to me. now - busan is not quite like that... but.. yu get my drift...
anyway - i moved to busan for a woman so i think busan girls are the best!
one thing i have noticed about women in busan - they are not so fashion crazy as the seoul women, and they do not wear as much makeup. i see both of these tendencies as extremely positive!
busan is also hotter than seoul so shorts abound!
i suggest yu visit here before it gets colder! and give me a call when yu get here - i'll buy yu a beer or three. |
