i overheard a conversation once about people having gone to a black sand beach somewhere in the south-west near kwangju or mokpo. where exactly is this beach and is it worth going to check out?

Yeosu is on the south coast of Korea, just east of Mokpo. You can take a train or a bus.

The sand is a little course, but it is sand. It is not midnight black, but black enough to be called 'black'.

Lots of accomodation. There's a great motel on the harbour front near Jinamgwan. Lots of Korean restaurants, not really many western places, though. Check out the WeII Soju bar. If you're staying downtown, it's right across from the Popeye's Chicken. They bring you loads of free food.

Yeah I heard Korea not only has a great fall season with the leaves changing, but summer time brings in the tourists for the beach sand color changing..... Rolling Eyes Sorry just had to do it.

Is it volcanic sand? Is black beach sand always volcanic?

The free food. Laughing

They bring you dishes and dishes of free food, like don cass, soup, cheese corn, watermelon, pat bing su, and ice cream.

You can go drinking and eat dinner for free. Very Happy

Have you ever seen where the Yeosu airport is? It's way out of town in the midlle of nowhere. Think rice fields and cows. Laughing
