NO gunter from the 3 Ally is not involved in that bar...

His brother in law MR Jung from SEOUL PUB and his brother JIN are involved.. and so is tony from the russian bar..

they put in 100million each...
thats why you see the girl from ABC out in the street selling her arse..
cause she is losing money in a big way!

Interesting. I heard different.

Jin
Ho
Tory form Blue Frog. His missus is still running it and he is working in Lucky Strike.

Plus. It wasn't an equal split with the money at all. Most came from the Seoul Pub member.

But. I did hear it was losing money hand over fist. Not sure why really. Nice inside and a good location. Maybe because the ho is outside? That's why no-one is going in!!

I agree with this. It needs to be knocked down entirely, the hill gotten rid of, plus the second hill and some extractor fans in bars wouldn't go amiss either.

Having said that, I do enjoy going to some of the restaurants and one bar in particular there. Plus, the shopping is good on the street. A little more expensive, but good nonetheless. Everything is there.

cellphone----have you played pool in these Korean places? The kind with 4 balls on the table and no pockets? I think you need to touch every ball...Another wacky Korean thing...

I like Itaewan because it's different--a lot different from the rest of Korea..Enjoy it now though---I predict it will become Kangnam when the bases move..

I've been away---what and where is Lucky Strike? (Recall gunter saying he would sell by the time base goes.)

Lucky Strike is at the base of (middle, actually) of Hooker Hill. It's on the corner across from Manhattan Restaurant and above where FLEXX used to be (or still is???).

By the way, Itaewon, the Chinese girl has got a lot more arse to sell these days!

Going to Itaewon is what kept me sane when I was there. Being able to look around and see other foreigners, GI or teachers, let me know that I wasn't the only one going through hell there. And I must admit I like going to Geckos. Plus I found the cheapest phone cards there and a lady who sold stuff that I couldn't find at Homeplus, Carrefour or Costco, like Poptarts and chip dip. Admittedly it wasn't the cleanest place around, but it was a great change from the sticks that I lived in.

Yes, but maybe I can help aleviate his bitterness by showing him the sunshine side. I want bellum to be happy, really I do Wink

And yet you use 'jarheads' to refer to military personnel...maybe you should work out your own bitterness issues before you help out Bellum...I want you to be happy...I really do...

I don't know where all of Itaewon's jarheads come from Diver, I don't stop to ask their occupation but there are indeed many who are not military and many military who are not jarheads. I just go places where nice people go.

So you use a pejorative that is generally accepted as a derogatory term for soldiers (Marines in particular), a term that you have used (in that context) on this board in the past, and now you say you didn't necessarily mean soldiers in your last post?

Gotta call BS on this one. Anyone who has been reading this board for awhile will most likely call the same. You do have a bit of history on this issue:

It's just not very nice drinking in the same establishment as military personnel, they are usually uneducated, they pick fights, leer at women and drink too much. I wish they would just stay on their military bases.

People don't want to drink in the same place as military personnel, because of their behavior

Screw that, ban those jarheads. It's a simple, practical solution to a problem.

I think that what has happened is that I have pointed out your hypocrisy (you told someone who made a sweeping generalization that included teachers to 'chill out', then made one yourself about GIs), and you have run for cover. Nice try...

Diver, you know how I feel about a lot of US army personnel, and we've milked that discussion to death. I hold by everything I have written, but just don't want to get into one about it again with you is all. Running for cover if you like because you seem to be throwing down the gauntlet for another great big long argument about it, I hold my hands up. I prefer to avoid them, and go to places they don't, usually means I have to pay a bit more, but I'm fine with that. I don't really like them that much, feel that a lot of them are real jarheads, I don't feel comfortable being in the same place.

Gwangjuboy and I were just having a bit of a joke over that poster Bellum, is all. Gwangjuboy put him down as a troll and I didn't realize that he'd written all that stuff about English teachers and don't much care that he did. I don't mind what he wrote about teachers, Gwangjuboy did, but then he doesn't have any particular opinions about about GI's I don't think.

Well Butterfly,

It doesn't matter too much anyway. I am done with posting anything on this board. So, goodbye and good luck. You were always a worthy debate partner. I'll miss kiwiboy, gwangjuboy, bobster, yourself and a few others in particular.

If you happen to bounce around the 'net, I will be using the same user name, so I am not that hard to find. Drop in and say 'hello'.

You may see an expansion in the next couple of years as they will be moving the Yongsan base out of Seoul by 2008.

Title: A Country Boy Can Survive (y2k Verison)

Computer man says it's the end of time
December 31st nineteen ninety-nine
People buyin' up army surplus things
Afraid of what the new year will bring

I live back in the woods you see
Y2k don't mean a thing to me
I've got a shotgun, a rifle
And a four wheel drive
A country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

I can plow a field all day long
I can catch catfish from dusk 'till dawn
Make our own whiskey
And our own smoke too
Ain't too many things these ol' boys can't do
[including bocephus]

We grow good ol' tomatoes
And homemade wine
A country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

'cause you can't starve us out
And you can't make us run
We'll survive in the millenium
We say grace
And we say ma'am
If you ain't into that we don't give a damn

We came from the west virginia coal mines
And the rocky mountains and the western skies
If the bank machines crash

Sorry heres the rest:

We'll be just fine
'cause a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

I had a good friend in new york city
He never called me bocephus
Called me hillbilly
[really]

But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife
For forty-three dollars my friend lost his life
Now this dude's gonna get out in a year or two
'cause the system don't work for me and you
But a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

'cause you can't starve us out
And you can't make us run
We'll survive in the millenium

We say grace
And we say ma'am
If you ain't into that we don't give a damn

We're from north california
And south alabam'
And little towns all around this land
If the bank machine's crash
We'll be just fine
And a country boy can survive

Country folks can survive
Country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
[any year, anytime]
