My roommate and I are thinking of heading to Tokyo for the Korean hoilday soon. Has anybody stayed in Hostels in Tokyo (did I mention that I am cheap)? What are the names of cheap ones as close to Tokyo as possible?
I've searched the site here and found a useful FAQ, buts is a little outdated. I wouldn't mind some more up-to-date stuff. I have also searched the internet a fair it, but its much easier to actually ask someone who knows.
We don't know what we are going to do there, so if anyone can throw in that info, that would be cool too.
Thanks in advance |

there are no hostels to my knowledge. but low budget accomodation can be had with japanese-style rooming houses. i stayed in a great one near ueno park for about 40/night (which is stunning by tokyo standards). they provide a tatami mat (like a futon), blankets and sometimes tv. b/r and showers are shared down the hall.
i also stayed in a capsule hotel one night for about 50 or 60 bucks.
check out the meiji shrine and the surrounding park; ueno park; harajuku and shinjuku.
living in seoul, it's easy to forget what urban greenspace looks and feels like.
