I finished my 2nd year the end of Feb. 2004. Man was I a bitter camper. Things at my job (stayed at the same school for 2 years) went to hell. Stuff back home (some illnesses in the family, 2 deaths and some other issues) ate at me and really built and built. Korea was the last place on earth I wanted to be and I was sooooooooooo happy to leave. However, now that I've had 6 months to reflect, I wasn't being fair to Korea. My 2nd year in korea sucked, but I was sure helping it along. I had a great 1st year, and i tend to think that I could still have a positive experience. I must say I am mighty close to climbing back on a plane and giving it another go.
Sounds like you need some 'down' time dude. Korea will be there later if you want to go back.
Later man...
P.s. anyone who knows of a good school (well run and good staff) that's looking for a teacher with experience feel free to give me a shout.

Things to consider when going home:
Did you save enough money? housing, car, insurance, furniture, bills, etc.
Are you gonna rent or buy a home?
Do you have something to go back to? Family, job.
Do you have a plan? Career goals, education, marriage, etc.
How much debt do you have?
Consider the costs of living in your neck of the woods.
Things would be tough for me since I can buy a Mercedes with the college debt I have.
America is so damn expensive. If you've saved a substantial amount of money, make sure you budget for the worst case scenario.
I might be making a smart move to remain in Asia for a couple years.

2 years in Korea was interesting. Time for greener pastures. |
